What is TRAC?

An association of California citizens who believe that expanded rail passenger service means greater mobility and mobility options, a cleaner environment, improved land-use, a stronger economy and a better quality of life.

Why join TRAC?

By joining TRAC, you as a train rider have a voice at the state capitol. We keep an eye on current legislation, watch for threats to current and future rail services, and look for ways to improve rail service in California.

What has TRAC done for me?

TRAC's California Passenger Rail Bond Act provided nearly $2 billion in capital for tracks, equipment, and locomotives. TRAC’s accomplishments have directly improved the mobility and day-to-day lives of millions of Californians. The Capitol Corridor, Metrolink and Coaster didn’t exist before Prop. 116; these are now national success stories. The Surfliners and San Joaquins have greatly expanded service and ridership with the railcars, locomotives and track upgrades made possible by Prop. 116.

Where does my support go?

TRAC is 100% membership supported and maintains an office at the state capitol. Our entire budget is less than the average salary of a California professional worker. Out of this we pay for office rent, supplies, staff salary, publishing and mailing of the California Rail News and Action Alerts and sponsor our annual Rail Conference and Membership Meeting each fall. We advocate our message of better rail transit to the public, legislators and the media. We do so much with so little. We seek increased membership to help meet our future goals.

What are our goals?

To continue our mission, but with a wider scope. With greater resources we can increase our staff, publish our newsletter more frequently and regularly, and set aside resources for future initiative campaigns and legal actions. We have accomplished so much; with a larger membership we can achieve even more. Your contribution helps.

Sign me up!

Welcome aboard TRAC!
